    Garand Video

    Gentlemen,
Here's a short piece of my CD Video. Let's see if you guys can tell me what they are making in this shot. No pun intended. I hope you have some fun with this one.

Click on large pic below. The file is 18 k -- very short.

Some data has been posted before others have not.

    Thanks again

can't be the barrel because there's no mandrel, right?...might be preheated slug before it goes to the forging dies for the receiver?
      thanks Clancy.

Whatever it is, I am pretty sure they don't do it that way anymore.

i seen this set up before (steam power -hammer forged ), but they were making sword and other blacksmith tool. i'm guessing either a bayonet or some small part that fit inside the receiver. can't tell what is it.

I'm going to guess and say bolts, or at least bolt blanks.

                      Gentlemen,
The video is showing us the start of a milled Trigger Guard. Hope you have fun with this one. You guys should think about getting the CD it's on sale and has about 15 min's of data like this. It is a short video because others are really BIG. Plus you get the "Plates" files. These are Ordnance line drawings of the M1 Garand and show the changes over the years.
                      Thanks again
