"Garand Thumb"

I was stricken today for the first and hopefully the last time. I have had my CMP Garand for a year and managed to close the bolt full force on my index finger resting on the rear of the chamber. Fun!

Who else has experienced this Garand learning experience?

Garand thumb hurt, Hakim thumb brought tears to my eyes - like a factor of ten.

I was the example at my DCM qualification class - dang club M1 jumped up and bit my thumb (bleed - lost the nail - the whole works) - I was nice to it (up until that point) - - - just a nasty M1

The instructor singled me out and used me (and my blood) - as a lesson for all of the other shooters - - -

Funny - the lessons that include pain stay with you - -

I havent had garand thumb, but did get SKS Bite, one of my Yugo M-59/66s decided to bite down on my finger

Garand thumb once when I was a newby . . . Grand pinky when I should have known better . . .

I've never experience that fortunately.

I always hold the bolt back while inserting a fresh clip.
