can anybody help identify these two guns,one I know is a japanese ww2 rifle and the black powder flintlock is? I'm trying to get some idea of the age of the black powder and the value of the two to sell them. I'm not a gun expert and could use some help from you knowledgeable collectors, I'd be open to trades also?? thanks,cameron..

the first one is an arisaka outside of military configuration. Tempted to say late transitional, but the stock is awkward in that it looks like a T38 and not a T99
we'll need pictures of the bore, action, barrel, stock, complete photos of each.

The Arisaka has been sportized by cutting the stock which would decrease the price of the rifle.
I dont know if the stock is a replacement because it looks just like the old 6.5arisaka t-38 rifle stocks, but I could be wrong. However if that dust cover is orginal, the gun is worth a little more. The arisakas have been rising in price for some unknown reason and I would expect that rifle be around $150+, but its hard to say because of that sportized stock. Also more pics of the receiver and bore are needed to get a real estimate.southsac916

Original Japanese stocks had a distinctive two-piece construction that had two advantages
- More efficient use of the wood blank with less waste
- The grain of the bottom piece of the buttstock ran parallel to the bottom of the buttstock, instead of parallel to the long axis of the stock. That greatly reduced the tendency for the toe of the buttstock to chip off.
The joint between the two pieces of wood in a original Arisaka buttstock is often mistaken for a crack.

The Arisaka looks like a smooth bore training rifle. They frequently had one piece stocks.
Take some photos of the receiver markings, or look down the barrel and see if it has any rifling.Useless laws weaken the necessary laws.

That Arisaka is odd. The safety is last ditch style and the rear sight is a peep sight, so I'd lean towards it being a Type 99... but... I too think it could be a Bubba-fied Trainer.Comment

Magazine catch/triggerguard, rear sight, and rear sling swivel are Type 38. Bolt body is in the white like a Type 38. I agree that better pictures, like the top of the receiver ring, and series/serial number/arsenal on the left side of the receiver would make it less of a guessing game.Revolvers are not pistols
