    cmp requirements

While geting suited up to go surfing a friend saw my cmp paper I down loaded that deals with safe gun handling, the one you are supposed to get a range officer or cop to sign off that you have shot 50 rounds off in a safe manner and all that. He asked why doin't I just fill out the form myself, how would cmp even know? That never even crossed my mind, not that I would do it but how would they know. Whats stopping people from filling out the form themselfs, a lot easer than getting a range official to do it. I'm going to follow cmps rules but I am curious.

The simple answer is that honor and the desire not to defraud is stopping people from doing something dishonest.
