Once you go C&R you can't go AR?

It always starts with just one... and one morning you wake and find that you have become both a Curio and a Relic.

Why, is there soon to be a drought?

I've got a K98 replica coming to me, but have yet to buy ammo.

Is all surplus 8mm ammo corrosive?

Just about all of it is. There is some late production Austrian and Portuguese surplus that is non-corrosive, but it costs as much as new commercial ammo.

Cleaning up after shooting corrosive ammo in a bolt action rifle like the K98 is so easy that it is not worth paying all the extra money for non-corrosive ammo. Shooting 50 rounds of non-corrosive ammo out of a K98 will save you about 90 seconds of cleaning time, but cost you $15 in higher ammo prices.

I'd sure appreciate it if you could tell me which Big 5 store you went to - and if they had any left (no luck finding Yugo Mausers at Sunnyvale, Menlo Park, Milpitas - and calling the stores has been an exercise in frustration).
