    Stevens/Savage 311E .410

Not sure if this one is a C&R or not, so maybe one of you can shed some light. It has a serial number, so manufactured after 1968 anyway. Also, the Westfield, Mass. roll mark and "E" designation mark it as a relatively new production, I'm guessing somewhere in the 70's.

In any case, saw it at a gun show yesterday, struck a deal, and took it home. Action is tighter than a monkey's butt, and looks like it's hardly been used. I always wanted one in .410, and now I have it. . I used to have the 12 and 20, but those were sold a long time ago (I missed the 20 so much, I replaced it with a Fox Model B a couple of years ago).

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

My first duck gun was a 311 20g. My dad was shooting a 311 12g at the time. The problem with them is that the firing pin holes get worn out. That said, a nice .410 would be a great addition to my small .410 collection. Congrats.

LOL - my first duck gun was a 311 in 12 gauge, that I bought new for $65 at J.C. Penney's in the Northridge Mall. Wish I'd kept it......

I was given a 311 20 ga for my 12th birthday and have hunted everything and still use it for birds. I have both the 20 and 410 models.

Action is tighter than a monkey's butt...
Always used a light coat of grease on mine. Was a little aggravating when dry and reloading in the field.

Thanks! They take some getting used to.

With a .410 it's probably not an issue but, I will advise against pulling both triggers at the same time if using a 20g with 3" shells. I did it ONCE when I was about 12 or 13, poor coot and my poor shoulder.

Hah - I've got you beat on that score. I did that with the 12 gauge when I was a teenager. I remember very clearly the bloody knuckles.

I think every kid which has owned a 311 has done that at least once. I do not even notice that I change triggers when I shoot.
