Hunting in WY, stopped at the Cody Museum of the West

I took a few pics, thought you folks might enjoy them:

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

          The museum is awesome.
I was there is April this year during the artic blast.
The business I work for is a constant contributor to the museum, not only supplying display items but also helping with identification and tags.
We made a list of tags that needed correction during the last visit.
There are rooms with old gun making machinery and lots more stuff to see.
It will take 2 days to see it all quickly.
          Well worth the time!

One can learn a great deal about history by visiting the various firearms museums located throughout the country. It's been over fifty years but, I can still vividly remember many of the exhibits at the John Browning Museum in Ogden, Utah of which I toured in 1967 as a 17-year-old just out of high school. Another exceptional firearms museum that I had the opportunity to explore in 1995, is the Springfield Armory Museum in Springfield, Massachusetts.

That place is worth making a trip up there just to visit. It's freaking rad. The surrounding area is pretty awesome too. I went in the spring of 2021 and only had one day in town, I'd really like to make another trip back and spend several more days....to also shop for property and maybe a house.

I bet that D&L Sports piece is incredible in person.

I hope to purchase one someday.

Thank you so much for those great photos!

I watched an episode or two where Iain McCallum from the YouTube channel Forgotten Weapons visited the Cody museum and although that was cool these photographs are much sharper and easy to focus on, especially the paintings and artwork.

I visited it in 2020 and paid for the escorted tour by one of the collection managers (I guess that is the term). Saw lots of behind the scenes stuff. Worth the extra fee!

To do it justice, you need to spend the day there. It's not just a gun museum - guns..... yes, but so much more. Original art works in a gallery, plains indian exhibits, natural and geological exhibits, Wild Bill stuff, etc. Also - a research library downstairs that took me half a day all by itself. It really is a must-see.

In addition, there is a smaller museum in Cody that is specifically for dug weapons. A really fantastic collection of artifacts:

                              I agree on both!

The dug up gun museum was an unexpected gem.
