So I was looking at my old model 94 chambered in 30-30, and I noticed this hole in the side. Am I missing a screw or pin? Anyone know what its for?

Appears present in other pics of Winchester 94's - so I wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe it's that 'bonus hole' we hear so much about lately.

It's for removal of a pin that allows you to remove the bolt. Corresponding hole should be on the other side. Work the action slowly and you'll see the pin as the bolt moves back and forth.
During disassembly you line up the pin & the hole and punch it out.
Do the reverse for reassembly. I found that swearing helps things line up.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Hole to drift out the bolt retaining pin when you disassemble the action. There's a corresponding screw on the other side that you remove to drift the pin out.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
