    some questions about MAS 49/56

This rifle was rechambered in 308 and doesn't even work that well. It needs low pressure rounds to work. I want to get rid of it since I don't reload 308.

Is it even a C&R rifle?

    I'll take it!

          I am in the OC.

Right now, Dirtbiker has first dibs.

Should I start a thread in "for sale" section or just leave it here?

I would like to get $400 for it. I have all the accessories (that came with) intact and the original French manual.

49/56 is not Cali legal if the grenade launcher is still attached. Be careful.
Also they were in production until 1965 so watch out for the 50 year old rule.
Check the barrel date. From what I have read, F serie rifles would have been produced between 1956 and 1958, G series would have been produced between 1958 and 1960, and H series would have been produced between 1961 and 1963.

way i understand it, there's a few people out there that know how to make the .308 ones work. only downside is it's expensive, and these are expensive rifles usually. that's a very good price. as for me, i'd rather have it in 7.5, they always work.

Actually I think they're one of the cheaper C & R semis out there when compared to M1 carbine, Garand, FN 49, SVT and such. I guess being ugly has it's price, right?

I paid about $250.00 for mine maybe 5 years ago. I do notice they've gone up but I think you can still on a good deal get one for $400.00, maybe a bit less.
