SKS popped primers (failure to fire)

In case anyone here gets the same problem I had, I'm posting my solution.

I was having problems with my Yugo SKS that got progressively worse. After pulling the trigger I could hear a click but no bang! I could see an indentation on the primer but the round would not fire. Eventually it would not fire at all.

When I took apart my bolt I found that the spring from my Murrays firing pin (sidenote: get one) had disappeared and my firing pin was bent! I found this page on Murrays site and it fit my bolt exactly:

I sent my bolt in for refacing and now it works perfectly. They also replaced my broken pin and spring for free. Good deal!

bizarre, never heard of this problem and certainly haven't experienced it with my russian. thanks for the information though, this should be useful to a lot of frustrated and confused SKS/AK owners. should the situation ever arise, i'll know what to look for as well. kudos for bringing this up!
