    Swedish Pistol:The Husqvarna M 40 Pistol

I was watching a show and they claimed the murder weapon was a Swedish pistol.

I scratched my brain and really had never heard of a Swedish handgun.
It's covered nicely in this link

And it had a loaded chamber indicator. I never knew how old that "feature" was and yes they stopped making the M40 with the LCI.

History of the Lahti m/40 pistol and its use by Sweden, Finland, and Denmark.

OP, you may also know that the very first "9mm" (9x19) semiautomatic pistol, also the gun the round was designed for, was the Luger P08 and it had an LCI. So its kind of amusing to me to hear people b1tch about LCI's when the very first "9mm" pistol had an LCI. The very first one, no less! The LCI is a very old concept indeed.

I have one as a cheaper substitute for the Lahti 35 these are based on. I have found if I take it out to a range or to the desert with others, that someone almost always will begin to converse with me about Lugers.

I seem to recall the negative rumors about weapons....

I have a Finnish and a Swedish Lahti - I only fired a few rounds thru the Finnish one and never fired the Swedish one - before I heard the design led to receiver cracks - that basically ruined the value of the pistol.

does ane one know of a fix for lahti m40 barrel extension cracking or where to get quality spares?

So, they sit in my gun safes. They are quite robustly built pistols so this supposed flaw was a surprise to me.

Originally, yes. I believe Husqvarna was spun off to KTM in the 1990's.
                Still a wonderful racing bike.

My very first 9mm pistol that I bought at a surplus store on Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood for $249. in really nice shape. Found extra magazines at Martin B Retting. I didn't know nothing about semi-auto pistols as I was quite young, but liked it's look and price, so I bought it... Found out, pistol would only function with hot WW2 9mm surplus ammo---weak US commercial 9mm ammo would not work the action...

I recall a few years ago, several surplus outfits were selling the holster with cleaning rod, loading tool and two spare magazines for under 20 bucks. Bought several just for the extra magazines. Think I have four holsters for the two pistols I have.

One of my favorite C&R pistols! I have the Swedish and the Finnish versions. The Finn. has a interesting history and came from Israel with a holster, extra mag and tools. It has a Israeli property tag showing it was turned into the Israelis in 1993. I purchased it in 1996.

Nice examples, never seen the non-leather holster before.

Just to reinforce the point, "geladen" means "loaded". Sort of implying the statement "Loaded when up".

I am so glad someone else knows about it.

I got this from Empire Arms a few years ago. Described as: "DANISH Model 40 Lahti, mfg. by Husqvarna circa 1944-45 and initially issued to the Danish Brigade at the end of WWII, and later the Rigspoliti (Danish Police Force)."

I picked up mine from Martin B Retting a few years ago. It's a great shooter.
