    SMLE Screws

I've had a bolt on scope mount for the No4 type SMLE rifles and managed to lose the screws that came with it. One replaces the ejector screw and the other replaces the safety screw, not the sight screw. Each needs to be slightly longer than the original.

A metric 4mm works properly on the ejector, the safety screw is slightly larger, but a 5mm is too large. An 8x32 standard type almost works but is just a tad undersized.

    Anyone know for certain?

FWIW the scope mount is going on one of those Santa Fe or Golden State types cut down to "Jungle Carbine" size, so nothing special about the gun.

Taps and dies may be available from Brownells. If not they are readily available in Australia and also England.

            Thanks Ken.

Considering the gun is a No4 cut down and the ejector screw is rock solid, I figure opening up the rear *safety) hole to 5mm is easiest.

And this is why you keep your eyes peeled at gun shows & flea markets & garage sales.

The kids are selling-off weird uncle Bob's old junk drawer no one wants that in reality is chalk full of
Winchester and Mauser and Enfield little CS parts that no one knows what they go to.
