My friend is downsizing his armory and sold me his barely used Cimarron Colt 1872 open top in .44 special.
I took it to the range today and even with the tiny rear sight, it shot pretty well at 10 yards. I used my handloads which are only pushing a 200 gr bullet about 650 FPS so I think I'm within its strength parameters.
Getting the wedge out after lining up the screw required a brass drift, and getting it back in and seated took some spirited tapping from a nylon hammer.
It is very easy to clean since the barrel can be cleaned from the muzzle. Not much holding it all together, so obviously not a revolver for adventurous handloads!
