Fg black powder is available

    Fg black powder is available

    If I have a 58 caliber black powder musket, and all I can get is Fg black powder, will that work ok ?

    Are you planning on live firing it or just shooting blanks for living history? Personally, I would NOT want to use Fg to live fire in such a small bore.

      I have a .54 and I use it. A little grainy. i like triple seven pellets better.

        Why is that? I thought it was practically impossible to blow up a black powder gun (modern at least) even if the barrel was completely filled with powder as long as it was compressed with no air gap?

          Uh, it is practically impossible to blow up a modern cap and ball revolver in good condition if you use black powder. As far as muzzleloaders go, there's no limiting factor for powder. I sure don't want to be anywhere around some moron who fills a muzzleloader barrel with BP and a projectile. I bet it would be more like a pipe bomb than anything else. Sure, my .22cal has a smaller capacity and thick barrel walls but, a shotgun or big bore muzzle loader has thin walled barrels and a lot more "case" capacity.

            Of course. Here?s iraqveteran8888 testing it at around 3:40. There?s damage to the rifle (and shooter) but it didn?t explode.
