Vz24/Mauser action and bits

So I bought a bunch of random tools at a yard sale and amongst the tools is a barrel, bolt, a possibly complete but disassembled vz.24 action, some new manufacture Mauser parts, and apparently an HK PTR91 port buffer made in west Germany by HK.

I?m not really sure I want any of these parts; but before I decide to sell/scrap/whatever with them (we?ll, really just the vz24 bits) is there anything I should look for in case anything is a bit more, uh, rare? I don?t think anything is in particularly great shape (bolt has a bubba handle on it), but I don?t know much about vz.24 and I don?t want to just trash something that looks useless to me but may have some kind of importance for people keeping shooters functioning or I don?t know. I don?t know much of anything other than the platform is/is essentially a clone of the Mauser 98. I didn?t plan to end up with all these random bits; but here I am?

Just wanted to add… do we still have to have photos hosted on a 3rd party site to link them here? I’ve got a few things I don’t even know what they are after looking at some schematics. Maybe if I have more parts to a vz.24/Mauser hybrid bubba shooter than not I’ll assemble it into some kind of cheap deer rifle or something

vz24's are highly regarded for strength and workmanship. Depending on price, you may have really done well! I have rebuilt many a VZ24.

VZ24 was a good old good one

VZ24 one of my favoritist milsurps. Also popular for bubbatzations. Probably more practical to liquidate the parts rather than try to bring something back to firing condition. Best wishes. Dave

Love the look of that rifle, Dave! You may be right if the bits are in too many pieces/poor shape (if it was a real "winner" I'm sure the prior owner would have built it back up. For all I know the pieces I now have were from a nasty donor rifle).

I looked at the action and it seems the lion was rubbed off for the purposes of installing/due to a mounting plate for sights/scope having been installed. Only thing left are the top portions and the feet; oh well.

I also found a Brownell's Mauser LR receiver facing mandrel tool amongst the other items. Maybe this evening I'll get to pull everything out/lay it all out and really take stock of what is there. Looks like maybe some additional bolt parts as well

So after sorting through the box of tool stuff it appears I have everything (and a few doubles in some cases) for a complete barreled action minus a trigger. Also have a modern optics mount, few new manufacturer springs, and I’m in probably forgetting something or another. I think if I can find a cheap barrel in cheaper (to shoot) caliber that makes some kind of sense I may build it out into… something that will hopefully safely shoot. I should probably look harder at the barrel it came with to find identifying marks/get it measured to see what it is… I’m assuming it’s the standard caliber for vz.24 but frankly I have no idea
