    Garand lower band misalignment

I'm re-assembling my CMP garand after taking it apart for a good cosmo-cleaning and stock cleaning/oiling. This morning I put the lower band and rear handguard back on, and was able to get the lower band retaining pin and hand guard retaining clip on without much difficulty, but it looks like it's rotationally misaligned slightly (about the axis of the barrel).

I'm not sure that I could fit the pin into the lower band, or install the handguard clip, in any other orientation, so I don't know how to fix this.

Just checked mine and it is not perfectly centered either, although it is not as far off as yours. If it all fits back together into the Stock Ferrule and the Op Rod is not rubbing, I think it should be OK.

tap it lightly to center it......but do it before you put the wood on it...
