    Help with drill/tap Mosin Nagant?

First - will the "it's an piece of history " purists please back off.

Now - is there someone on this forum who has done it themselves and is willing to help me out?

Is there a 'smith in the NorCal bay area that has the tools/expertise to drill & tap my M/N for an ATI scope mount?

    Please PM me.
    Thank you.

Diablo Valley Gunworks. They've done several that I personally know of.

Do you have a bent bolt already? I believe you need a bent bolt to use the ati mount since it goes about the bolt.

yes it does. I don't have the bolt yet, but I'll get around to it. I figure I don't actually have to screw the mount on until I get the bent bolt...

what kind of accuracy are you expecting from that ATI mount, cause it probably aint gonna meet your expectation

nothing wrong with the ati mount, long as you put some decent glass on it and have a half decent rifle. know a few people who've done this and it works fine. i've yet to do it on my project. bought a barreled action, just haven't put it all together yet. my original 91/30 and 44 are staying that way, but i bought a mismatch, ugly barreled action for this specifically. with a little talent you can do it with a drill press and some patience, or just find somebody to sort it out for ya.

Good use of a barreled action! I'm in the process of this myself, but I wanted to find a suitable piece of wood before I start anything

We have built some nice Mosins they are solid old shooters. They are even better with the scope mount and the bent bolt mod. (for sporting)

Go for it there are planty of pure un molested ones out there.

$ 120 to drill holes for an ATI?

Someone was quoted about $100 for a PU sniper drill & tap a while back in the SF South Bay and that's 4 holes (2 drill - 2 drill/tap)

I can't think of who, but a detailed forum search lasting a few hours might help?

p.s. I had an ATI on a Mosin and I regretted it! Authentic looking accumounts are way nicer.

Why did you regret it? Performance, holding zero?
Did you do the install yourself?
                            Thx!
