    MAUSER 98 Markings ; Need Help Identifying

    BCD 41 : on the receiver
    DO 223 / 38 : on barrel
    Erma : on barrel


    Mod 98 Mauser rifle with multiple nazi eagle stamps
    Has been sporterized but worried if it?s been re-barreled or bored out to new caliber

    Better pics are a plus. If there is doubt about the barrel, use Cerrosafe and cast the chamber and measure it.

      With old guns like that it's always good to verify what chambering you have prior to shooting it, especially if the history is unknown. It's a fairly simple process but any gunsmith should be able to do it for you as well if it's past your comfort level.

        BCD is the code for Gustloff Werke, the 41 is year made, the barrel markings are when Erma re-barreled it.
