Hello... I'm looking for what the value of a M1D garand would be... The rifle is a 1944 Springfield and was sold by CMP as a m1d. The scope, mount, cheek pad, flash hider are all original and in great shape... Any ideas of a price to go off of would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

Search 'Completed Auctions' on Gunbroker with the term M1D and you should find at least a couple that closed with a winning bidder, as I've bid on at least 2 CMP lot M1D examples in the past 90 days.
A general search with Duck Duck Go of Garand + M1D + Auction should bring up others from Rock Island Auctions, Morphy's, Proxibid, or GunAuction.com as those sites never delete them from their online archives. Search images out of that search and it will be easier to see which are the relevant results.
I say use Duck Duck Go because Google searches often fail to include a lot of sites that sell guns in their results, even if you have all content filters/restrictions turned off.

I can't remember the exact price but I think the CMP was selling them for about $2,500 a few years ago and around $2,000 without the scope.Comment

They're hitting $6,000 without the scope, $7,500 with.
Nice basic H&R or IH Garands with matching parts are breaching $3,000 st this point.

Nice! Glad I bought the two that I did back when they still shipped them direct. Both of mine are amazing shooters - good luck if you’re going to sell one! Should bring a healthy return.MAGA - drain the swamp^D^D^D^D^Dcesspool!

Not on CalGuns they don’t, if it is not an off-roster handgun or a hard to find black rifle the typical CalGunner won?t pay the premium to play the all-correct MilSurp collector game, the majority here want shooter mix masters and think provenance is a city in Rhoad Island.

Thank you everyone for your response.. it looks like the gun from CMP is 2,000, the cheek pads around $450ish the flash hider is around $300 and the scope in good condition and all original is 2,000 plus which is crazy because it's not the greatest scope.Comment

We need more info to understand what you have. Some questions that would help to understand values;
Is it a CMP auction rifle? They bring big bucks.
Is it a Greek return that has the black finish?
I believe around 2015 The CMP had a bunch of M1D barrels that they assembled into rifles and sold them as M1Ds with a different designator on the Certificate. What does the Cert say in its description?
What stock does it have? In particular does it have an SA RA stock?
What scope does it have? Is it a Lyman Alaskan?
Does the scope mount have the correct size allen head screws?
Which flash hider does it have?
What is the date on the cheek pad and does it have the correct stitching and felt pads?
Some good pics would help with the evaluation.Last edited by toro1; 03-27-2023, 5:23 AM.Comment

The rifle is a service grade m1d sold by CmP in 1997.. scope is the lyman m84 ..... Flash hider is the cone style heart manufacturer.. stock is marked SA & NFR in a box also has the cross cannons next to that.. the grip is marked P in a circle twice... I've already established that everything is authentic and correct..Comment

I think what people want to know is if it was sold with all the accessories included. That would make a big difference in price especially if you have the inventory checklist. I have an M1D sold by the CMP in early 2000's without accessories and I had to hunt down all the correct accessories. The rifle is a service grade m1d sold by CmP in 1997.. scope is the lyman m84 ..... When I originally contacted CMP to find out if the gun was in fact from them I was hoping to get an inventory sheet but they told me they could not send the inventory sheet unless you are the original purchaser... The barrel .... 52.... And cheek pad are the same year.... No way for me to tell if it came with everything. ThanksComment

Somewhere in the 90's they had a lottery. You sent in a post card, and they randomly selected them until all the rifles were gone. The sealed ones went first, followed by the Vietnam refurbs. I got drawn for one of the refurbs, and had to cough up $950. Big money for me at the time, but sure glad I ponied up.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Have you tried doing a Google search of the serial number and the word Garand? When I originally contacted CMP to find out if the gun was in fact from them I was hoping to get an inventory sheet but they told me they could not send the inventory sheet unless you are the original purchaser... The barrel .... 52.... And cheek pad are the same year.... No way for me to tell if it came with everything. Thanks
Sometimes that will bring up a link to a spreadsheet or list of guns CMP has sold over the years, due to amateur trackers posting such inventory lists of old data they got a hold of, or found in archives years ago, and people are informally making digital records of it.

A quick internet search indicates that graded Garands weren't sold by the CMP until 1998....I don't have a reliable source for that date info, but if true then the provenance of your rifle is....questionable-at least wrt to the scope mount and scope, leather cheek rest, and flash hider......Somehow I seriously doubt that CMP would have sold a service grade rifle with the scope/mount, cheek rest, and flash hider.
If you have no CMP issued paper(s) with it, you should at least pony up the $ for a CMP serial number search (if they still provide that service), and get some official paper from them. All the M1D specific parts and accessories are readily available, and could very well have been added in the aftermarket-including the barrel and scope mount block.
Without some provenance directly from the CMP, your rifle can only be considered a "put together" gun from a private party. Paper provenance=$$$ value.....Get anything you can from the CMP.Tire kickers gonna kick,
