Now over. Wendell Grangaard's mighty auction.

I was unaware of this auction until it was over. I would like to have viewed the display hoard had I known. Over 300 guns and 200 artifacts. Grangaard is now 86 years old and sold it all last month in Vegas.

Grangaard's book reviewed by Ian McCollum:
I previously reviewed a book on archaeological study of the Little Bighorn battlefield, which did an excellent and very insightful job of tracing the battle through tangible artifacts, including forensic tracing of different individual weapons across the field. I recently picked up another book on the battle (Little Bighorn to the Americans; Greasy Grass to

I like 256 (Benjamin Black Elk's grandfather's 1860 Colt percussion). Ben Black Elk for over 30 years was the 5th man on Mount Rushmore. Tourists loved him and his polite stories, and he loved their cash donations.

Guns aside, #50, the U.S 7th Cavalry and Cheyenne marked Battle of Little Bighorn war spoil, a Russell Green River Works skinner knife with special belt guide, is a fascinating piece of history if you’re into knives. A similar Russell Green River Works skinner is still in production and made in the USA today by the Dexter Russell Cutlery Co., though without the special belt guide https://dexteroutdoors.com/012-6sk-6...-carbon-steel/

All of that history. Amazing. There wasn't a piece in that auction that couldn't be in a museum.

There's guy who will engrave any image onto a wooden pistol grip. SAA. 1911, 1860 Colt Army, buttstock from a shotgun or rifle, etc. His prices are low. For instance any of the designs in this auction catalogue. The nice thing is no fitting required because the new grips are the old ones, which you mail to him to laser engrave. He's making a set for my Remington 1858 right now.
