@ 9:48 But I doubt before the early 1800's people had belts. So I wonder how in the earlier flintlock era, people loaded while standing up, rather than sitting down.

Yes. Pants back then did not have belt loops. Hell, Levis jeans didnt put beltloops on their jeans untill the 1920's. Pants didnt use belts before then, they used suspenders. If you needed to carry a gun or knife, then those had a dedicated belt, but more often one would carry blackpowder shooting stuff in an over the shoulder style bag sorta like a purse. Google "Possables bag."
