Bubba SKS GTG ?

I have an opportunity to buy a Norinco 92 or 93 former Paratrooper Sks D Sporter takes AK mags which has been Bubba into polymer stock and grip. Anyone have had issues with SKS D Sporters before? FTF FTE jamming or other issues?

It will be similar to rifle below but cerakoted black. I am a NV resident, not CA so only interested in how well Bubba rifles function.

The Norinco SKS-D, SKS-M, and MC-5D are not C&R.

They (Norinco Type 84 pattern) are factory designed and made to utilize standard AK magazines.

They were made for the exportation market during the 1980s-1990s.

They should be C&R some time in the 2040s.
But, they've been banned from importation into the USA since 1994.


For CA...

They are make/model banned as assault weapons and nothing can be done to make them CA legal.

I wouldn’t consider a factory made SKS D with an aftermarket replacement stock a Bubba. An SKS user altered yes.

I’ve seen these D versions a lot in Narco movies produced here and in Mexico

My advice is that unless it is super cheap, stay away. I am sure that it still functions as well as it did when new. it is, after all, hard to kill an SKS. But I personally would never be happy with the way it looks. From the picture it looks like it was refinished in hard chrome or maybe electroless nickel, which along with the plastic stock, might make it cool to use it as a boat gun.

I am the type that prefers for guns to be left as they were originally manufactured. All it needs that I can see is a stock and a bayonet to clean some of the ugly off of it, so if the price was right, I might go for it.

If affordable to you and you're in Reno, I'd get after it. Kinda scarce and the damage is not irreversible. PAX

They still are cheaper. Have you seen what a Polytech, or pretty much any Chinese AK goes for these days?

If it's the same color, then it'll be much more appealing to the eyes. I read before that those SKS converted magazine may jam on some models, while some other models are good. You'll probably need to google that. If it's cheaper than an AK, then get it and shoot it until you're tired. SKS is a shooter and it can take a lot of abuses.

If you can get the paratrooper for a good price go for it. You wont regret it and can always use it for trading.
