I just recently got my FFL03 & COE. Since I already have a good amount of 7.62 x 39 I was interested in purchasing an SKS as a Curio and Relic firearm. Unfortunately it seems like I missed the boat on the last batch that was sold in various places like classic firearms, PSA, and even J&G. There is still a batch left on gun broker by Black Market Firearms for $525 out the door (not hand select). I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger now or wait til another batch arrives with the hope that there will be a better selection then. Any thoughts? Buy now or wait? Thanks in advance.

The standard forum answer is to buy now.

Buy now. There's a millions of SKSs but the prices will still go up even if they import a metric **** ton in.Comment

I have some C&R Chinese (blade & spike) SKSs and a mismatched EP'd 1960 ROMY for near that price ($550 & up, or 2 for $1K) if interested. if you're close enough you can inspect them in person. PAXYou need a crew

Like planting trees or buying real estate. The best time was xxxx years ago. The second best time is now. You don't have to buy one right away. You should some day soon. It has so many virtues. Just wait until you see a model and configuration that you appreciate. That you will be happy enough to have. You can always, hopefully, upgrade. You won't regret having the bought the first one.Comment

Buy now, the prices will only go up. Buy the cleanest available, Russian usually higher in price as are Albanian but there are fewer in the Country. Probably more Chinese than any other. Yugo’s are hard to find because of the Grenade Launcher, Romanians around but quality not as good as the others.
More people reloading 7.62x39 than ever before too.Comment

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. Adding to the discussion, anybody have any thoughts on Black Market Arms? I've done some basic review searches from them and even found a post from someone who picked up an SKS from them here. They seem GTG but I'm not as certain as if I was buying from a more established shop.Comment

If you are going the gunbroker route, the actual item should be photographed and described clearly, and the seller should have sufficient positive feedback. You might pay a little more, but it is safer than going the pig in a poke route. Make sure they will ship to California and know that they will not send anything to you directly or give a rip about your FFL 03 and COE. But hey, at least you still get to pay the same FFL transfer fees as anyone else, keep a bound book that is subject to inspection, and renew that COE every year in exchange for skipping the 10 day waiting period. The usefulness of those documents has been hollowed out to the point where I don't know why anyone bothers with them.Comment
