I know that uberti makes a reproduction but i saw that Winchester makes their own.
Lots of models! the standard rifle is about $1400
It looks as though there is either a 24" or a 20" carbine. Was one more popular in the period than the other? Is there a preference on barrel length for competition? What was the original caliber? Winchester offers about 12 choices. Was it .357/38 or something else?

    Thanks in advance!

You see far more rifles than you do carbines. For me, the quintessential Model 1873 is a 24" rifle with an octagon barrel like this 1888 vintage '73.

I have an Uberti with a 24" barrel chambered in 45 Colt. It is a wonderful rifle.

However, I am selling it to fund another purchase. But I do like it a lot.
