Value of my Arisaka rifles?

I'm selling Arisaka rifles my dad gave me (he's moving, and doesn't want them anymore), but I have no idea of their value.

Does anyone have any ballpark figures on what they should sell for, private party and/or trade-in at a dealer? I'm hoping to off load all as a single lot if possible.

There are a lot of things that determine the value of Japanese rifles, condition, matching numbers on the bolt and small parts, rarity and what series they are, are the most important factors that collectors will consider.

Two of the pictured rifles have been sporterized and that lessens the value dramatically. It was quite common back in the day to rechamber Type 38 rifles to .257 Roberts as the bore was the same and all you had to do was ream out the chamber. It looks like it was very nicely done, unfortunately there is little interest in these conversions nowadays and that rifle has no collector value nor does it have much value as a shooter. If it was mine I would keep as a reminder of my father.

The "short Type 99 has had the stock cut and most of it's value is going to be as a parts gun.

So, that leaves us with the other three:

The first one pictured is in rather rough condition, but having an intact Mum is a big plus. Anyone interested in buying it would have to have better close-up pictures of the various parts along with a good picture of the series mark. Also it is important to know if it still has all matching numbers.

The Type 38, looses a bit of value due to the defaced Mum. It looks to be in average condition and the same parameters as the above Type 99 apply to it.

The Type 38 Carbine is the real gem in the bunch and is going to be worth significantly more than any of the other rifles. the same rules apply as to the others and any potential buyer is going to want lots of good close-up pictures and will want to know about matching numbers.

I can understand you wanting to streamline the sale of them, but I think you are going to have a tough time selling them as a unit. I would be interested in the type 38 Carbine, but I have little use for the others unless they were priced cheaply.

The rifle you describe as #6 isn't a Type 88. It's a type 44 folding bayonet carbine. It's missing the bayonet assembly and front sight. It's also had it's bolt modified with the a hex nut welded into it.

More of a parts rifle.
