I’m the opposite. Couple renewals already, same number same book no audit.

If you reapply after a short period, the BATFE just reissues your license... Just like a renewal.

It happened to me a few years ago when I moved and forgot to renew my license.

I never thought about waiting so you can start a new book and toss (or keep it but not be subject to an audit) the old book.

I renewed prior to expiration. Have same expiration date, just 3 years forward. But I got a new number anyway. This was last year. It's the first time I renewed - do other people keep the same number during a renewal?

Mine expired June 1st. Sent app in about June 5th. Got a new lic with different number first week of July.
