During my annual vacation to Ohio, I rent a car, make the 12.5 hr one way trip to Alabama to hand pick Garands, normally you can buy 8 but due to the lack of inventory this year you could only buy 1 per day until you hit your 8 limit. I normally drive through the night, shop in the morning when the store opens, buy my limit or what I can afford that day then drive straight back to Cleaveland, or stay on a military base then head back the next morning. This year with the one per day I bought 1 the morning I arrived, had to stay in a Hotel because I forgot my Military ID, then bought one more the second day then headed back on my 12.5 hour drive.
I was hoping for FG or SG, but when I went during the D Day matches special experts and WRA rack grades were all they had in my price range.
The SA has more pitting below the wood than on any other SG rifle I've ever owned, but as soon as I saw it was a 5 Digit I knew I was buying it no matter what.
The HRA is pretty nice and its the only HRA I own, used to have a FG one but moved it along years ago.
Swapped the gas nuts and trigger assys since they matched the opposite rifles.
Not knowledgeable enough to tell what parts are made by what manufacturer
Now I just need to refinish the stocks.
