To 'import' a 70 year old handgun into California, from out of state,

is an FFL03 REQUIRED?

Or, and anyone import a curio/relic handgun IF THEY GO THROUGH an FFL and DROS process?

Talk to the shop you want to act as your transfer dealer. Bring proof that the handgun is 50+ years old.

Ask how much they will charge for their service. (There is no limit)

C&R firearms are roster exempt and legal to "import" into Calif. as long as the firearm doesn't somehow violate some other Calif law.

Right after I posted my question, I took my FSC, Driver's License, and gun's serial number/age verification info to 'my' FFL in San Luis Obispo this afternoon and he pretty much gave me the same answer(s), so reading your feedback here kind of verifies the information.

I found a transfer dealer in the Milwaukee area that is familiar with shipping to California, so I think all the "i"s are dotted and ready to go.

This is a one-time-rodeo, and wading through it was been a royal PITA.
