Can Iron Sight Can Beat Scoped A Rifle? Sac Valley Silhouette March Results

Our monthly match at Sac Valley had 25 shooters shooting all sorts of rifles.
The match winner (shot a 32) shooting a 110 year old Swiss 1911 beat all but one other shooter in the vintage class with scope rifles. So what's the secret? He must be using some sort of magic dust sprinkled over the iron sight and a prayer before shooting?.

What I find interesting is he is not using premium reloading component but "cheap" components (GP11 brass, Tula Berdan primer, I4350 and Nosler seconds). It goes to show "it's the Indian not the arrow".

Proof that skill and knowing your rifle is more important than technology and gadgets? Proof that experience matters? It seems the "as issued" presented very well compared to the remainder of the field.

Let Go of the Status Quo!

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

The real key is excellent eyesight.

Although I have to agree with you that eyesight is definitely a plus, but this guy is no spring chicken either as he is a retired military in his mid 50s and need a slight + correction to clear up the front sight. He beats shooters in their 20s with scopes.

True, some... but out of his category you have the AR-15's scoring up to 38.

Nice to see the 03-A3 and M39 in the list.

The real question here is....where in God's name did he find Berdan primers?
