1871 French contract. 43 Egyption contract Rollingbloc.

I have this 1871 French contract Remington Rolling Block with pristene bore i picked up 6 weeks ago at local Idaho gun show.

Went so far as to buy 50, 32 gage brass magtec cases but balked at buying dies. ($275).

Could cut down 8mm lebel dies if someone has a set to sell, none here in Idaho.

Has nice U S Govt inspectors Cartuce on buttstock .
Very unusual to fine this condition bore exterior metal finish.

I'll try to get more assembled photos.

Depends what caliber your rifle is. The 1871 Springfield rolling block that Remington sold to the US Army was just a standard 50-70.

Are you certain that's the chamber? Those old rolling blocks can be a puzzle. Might have to slug the bore and do a chamber cast. They made them in quite a few calibers, and who knows where they ended up over the years.

Forgot to say/tell that I originally measured the chamber with telescoping gages and thought it was 44-90 peabody "what cheer " cartridge but could not get distances to exact intersections of body/shoulder/neck.

Did chamber cast and exact dim to .43 egyption case ctgs of world.
