48 "dated" no maker Finnish M-39 rifle

I bought this at auction a few days ago. It should arrive in a few weeks. A 48 "dated" no maker" Finn M-39 rifle. I use dated in quotes because it hasn't been confirmed that the "48" stamped into the barrel shank is a date indicator.

Other "no maker" Finn M-39's I have in my collection are dated 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970.

I'm still on the hunt for a 1972 and a 1973 as well as a no maker and no date M-39. So if anyone out there has one of those they want to sell to a good home let me know.

The "48" dated rifles are pretty rare birds, as according to what info I can find there are far less than 50 seen around the US

I haven't bought a C&R rifle, other than the French MAS Vietnam bring back I got a few weeks ago since December of 2019.

The auction pic's aren't the best and don't show the bolt number, but according to the description it has a matching bolt.

Thats a beautiful stock! In my experience, the No Maker M39's more often have the "unfinished" looking lighter stocks. Some of the arctic birch stocks from the war era are gorgeous.

    Nice find.

The "48" dated Finn M-39 arrived a few days ago. It's a real nice rifle and has a matching bolt. I don't have a clue related to the markings on the barrel... The "71" is probably a date code of some kind, but the characters above that... I have no clue.

It has a wartime round joint stock (of which I didn't take any pic's of).

          Great trigger too.

I'm going to have to do some real studying to try and find out more info on this rifle...

Beautiful. My M39 may well be my favorite rifle.

What’s the “K” and “SA” stamps?

The boxed SA is a Finnish Army mark "Suomen Armeija" .

I'm not sure of the circled K yet.
