Range time with C96 7.63 Mauser

Finally took an old girl for a run. I had a lot of fun. I did 40 rounds of my own reloads plus 20 factory rounds. AA2 at 5.0 gr barelly cycle the action. 5.3gr did much better. Max is 5.5gr. I'll load at max for the next time and will also try a slower AA7 powder.
Factory PPU 7.63 ammo is way to weak, would not cycle the action. Now Fiocchi did great. I dont have any ammo in 7.63 so I borrowed some from my old man. Fiocchi ammo is expensive. It has a sticker price of 13.95 for 50 rounds. Good thing is that I have bunch of Tokarev brass and projectiles to reload for it.

Nice Bolo Mauser C96, is it all matching numbers with a good bore?

Those are hard to find with good bores and decent finish.

All number matching down to original grips. I took original grips off. Bore is on a weak side.

Very nice! good looking piece you have there... with prices how they are I have been tempted to looking into reloads, C96 is just too much fun to shoot.

As an aside, imagine how many rounds have been fired through the C96s over the decades to shoot out the bore! I've seen beat up C96s that are just about smooth bore and still functioning.

Most, if not all, of those Bolo Mausers came out of China where they received virtually no care and were used like borrowed mules.

I had two of the Chinese Bolo's at one time (down to one now) and both bores had been totally shot out. At 25 feet, both would keyhole 100% of the time.

On both of them, the frames were completely matching including the grips. The uppers were also matching, they just didn't match their respective lowers. On the one I kept I had the barrel relined back to 7.62x25 and put new springs in it. I don't reload for this caliber in spite of having another C96 due to not really shooting them all that much.
