Gunsmith in bay area that works on C&R

Copied from the general forum because someone recommended I try here.

I live in Oakland. I have two C&R pistols (Styr Haun, Enfield no.2 revolver) that I would like to have new wood grips made for, which will mean something made from scratch.

I also just got gifted a deactivated musket that looks like it has an inch of grime all over it. Would like to have it cleaned up so it would look nice on a wall. Some people have said just do it myself, but I have enough projects as is and there is some repair work that is outside my abilities.

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith able to do the job?

Lugerman would be your best bet, I doubt there is anyone in California who is experienced and skilled enough to make those grips.

Are you looking for original grips, or some special custom types?

Original grips, or at least good reproductions of both types are available on line.

There are probably a few skilled smiths around that could do this, there is just little or no money in it.
One approach to your kind of projects would be to connect with a student or instructor at one of the accredited gunsmithing schools. Lassen, Trinidad, etc. Students need many guns and projects to get through the course.

Here is a very skilled gunsmith scratch building some revolver grips. If made in CA, this set of grips would cost you around $1,000. It is labor intensive to make a one-off set of grips...

The grips look nice, definitely not a cheap service but you get what you pay for in this case.

                for the cleaning project:

not sure if he is still open but Nathan did some great work for me a while back.

as for remaking grips? yikes... that would be pricey. you might be better off with a wood worker of sorts. that seems to be a different skill set

Here are some wood ENfield No. grips on eBay: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/383800643084...4AAOSwCH9fV4Ox

It would be a lot cheaper to clean those up than have set made from scratch.

Here are some Enfield No. 2 grips for $39.50: https://www.triplek.com/product/enfi...evolver-grips/

They look to be plastic, but you should buy a set to use for a pattern if you don't already have a set. Then find soemone where labor is cheaper than in CA, send the pattern grips to them, and have htem make you the wood grips.
