looking for a good muzzleloader Appraiser in The Bay Area

Hi everyone,

I just acquired 3 stunning Hawken rifles at an estate sale.
I'll be keeping one and selling the others and am looking for an appraiser that is familiar with custom made Hawkens from the 1970s.

These guns are GORGEOUS!

Any info will be greatly appreciated .

Is either marked Navy Arms?

1. .50 Cal , heavy barrel , highly figured Maple, appears unfired, silver front sight, barrel and all metal browned , pinned , fixed patent breech, 32" barrel , 47" overall , L.O.P. 14", poured Pewter nose cap, no markings. Looks like a kit from The Hawken Shop , Sharon , GRRW , or another
2. .54 Cal , W.M. large barrel w/ fixed patent breech , highly figured Maple stock , Silver inlaid Buffalo on stock , 32" barrel , overall length 49" , L.O.P. 14"
W. Morgan XVII percussion lock , L Nelson '71 engraved on outside of lock,
poured pewter nosecap , appears unfired. Looks like it may have been built by one of the above mentioned companies.

Definitely not Navy Arms . I doubt these were production guns. My guess is Either kit built or custom built.
I only posted 2 pics because I'm keeping the 3rd.

You might try Krauswerk Collectibles in San Mateo. I haven't been in there since before COVID, but he has mostly C&R stuff. Wouldn't hurt to give him a call. Good luck

Hawken prices can run $200 up beyond $1,000. Take them apart and take good quality photos of every mark to nail down who made it. You'll probably find more collective knowledge on the Muzzleloading forum than one local appraiser.
I was fortunate to buy a LH flintlock built by a well known maker and they sorted it all out for me. Turns out my little investigation turned it into a gun that was worth at least 3 times what I paid for it.
I had a Hawken but sold it before I discovered the link between them and my wife's ancestors the Chouteau family that founded St. Louis in the 1700s. They bought and sold many Hawkins (from the St Louis factory) at their trading posts spread throughout the fur trapping areas.
