Any idea what this is worth. Thinking about placing a bid before this ends

Its a Mitchell's Mauser - truth in advertising.

10 years ago, you would have been laughed at if you tried to say that was a WWII German Mauser - as they were considered pimp shined POS.

I would think it is 3 times overvalued at the 1500 bid - but I have not been watching the market for awhile.

I would say - "do not bid".

Is it me or does it look like a Mitchell Mauser? If so, it's worth about a half of the current bid, probably less.

Mitchell Mausers are the Anti-Christ of k98 collectibles. Owning one will make you the laughingstock of other collectors, unless it was free or under 500

Good on you for asking. Mitchell's will always be reworked trash.

Same moron who just spent $1675 on a Mitchell's Mauser spent $4k on a Swedish Ljungman AG42B. This hobby is no longer for me.

Looks like they have more money than sense. It's too bad how many hobbies get ruined by becoming mainstream.

I got a Yugo M48 brand new with all the accessories in 2003/2004 for around 300. It was a micthell's mauser. It was covered in cosmoline and all serial numbers matching. I did not see any issues with it. Was it only the k98's that weren't genuine?

Consider if you will, the outfit reworking and selling them not genuine, its up to you. Visit the larger gun shows.

I bought my Yugo M48A about the same time from Big 5. It came with all the accessories. $149.00. It needed a lot of cleaning, and degreasing though. The K98's they had were pretty roach though.

Mitchell’s Mausers have been out there for a long time.

With all the bad press…. I have not seen or personally

looked at ONE restamped German K98k.

Yes, I’ve seen pimped out models, but never a fake one.

With all the accusations, you would think that they would be

                          easily spotted or photographed.

A reworked Mauser is not the same as a Fake Mauser.

Mitchell's Mausers are all "pimp shined" - in that they are re-numbered to match, refinished - and polish the bolt to an inauthentic bare-metal shine. I have seen German Mausers that they did this to and they also sold refinished Yugo Mausers sold as "98 Mausers made with German machinery".

Hey guy’s im new to the Mauser k98’s and just wanted to know how you feel about Mitchell’s Mausers?

The first time someone got mad at me on this forum was because I told him his new prize possession was a Mitchell's Mauser and that collectors would laugh at him at his belief that he got a collector's piece.

The bare metal bolt is a give away from even a long distance.

The MM K98 will also often have alterations to the RC "X" to make it look like a *.

Tbe irony of it is that RC K98's are well received by collectors and have historical significance. There's no need to doctor them. I dont know any Mauser guys who turn their nose up to a.clean RC.
