Reno Show

Judging by the lack of "whose going" thread CA attendees to the Reno Show is pretty well diminished. Any excuse to get out of CA is enough for me. The show definitely isn't like when at the Hilton/GSR but there are still deals.

Apologies for the less than ideal photos.

It's a reblue and the grips aren't original but for under $1K a 1927 Colt Argentine, not the later Argentine made version, is about as close as I'll get for a while to an older model. One of 10K made from 1927 to 1936 IIRC.






I have a few of the "mouse guns" - Baby Browning, Beretta 950 in 22 short and 25 ACP, etc. This Astra Cub is a 22 Short and in OK shape.




Also bought this H&R in 22 LR from the same seller. Not exactly top tier but I have a few others and the price was right.



I didn't buy this Colt Police Positive at the show. Got it at Willey Bros on South Virginia St. It's in 38 Special from 1919 if my date lookup is correct.



The internals were all gummed up but cleaned well.

I know there's been discussion regarding Willey Bros selling C&R eligible "cash & carry" to CA residents with the C&R. I've never had an issue, this is my 3rd or 4th buy from them including a late 1970's 2nd Generation Colt SAA. Once they verified that despite being under 50 yrs old but listed all went well.

On this one, there was an about 10 second "need to check if we do handguns, long guns definitely OK" before we went ahead with the transfer.

Do you mind saying how much you paid for the Astra Cub? Of course, I don't "need" anything like that, but if prices areasonalbe I could see starting a collection of C&R mouse guns.

It was $199.00. There was another as new but no box for $499.00, passed on that one. I don't mind paying more for the little Colts, Browning or even Beretta or Walther but am still f the "Spanish should be cheap" mindset.

I went but couldn't make a deal on a refinished Remington UMC 1911. Seller just wanted about $1000 more than I thought it was worth. I got some odds / ends and had fun but I agree it isn't the same show as GSR.

Last time I tried to buy something from willey they where just a holes about not selling to CA so I haven't been back since.

Not just this one, but sometimes I think the reason they're called "shows" is because based on pricing I think that's all they want to do - show them, not sell them.

I heard more than a few sellers and attendees say the New Frontier show is picking up.

The two people I've dealt with at Willey Bros were a woman and a fellow named Earl. Earl seems to be the most in charge and knowledgeable. At 1st he wasn't sure if a DGR reworked Garand was OK but quickly said OK. Same with the Colt when I told him it was C&R listed. Been pretty smooth after that.

After the way I was treated last time it would first take an apology from them before I would set foot in that place again. The guy ( it might have been earl) was just a first class A hole and rude about the whole thing.
