    Sks Not Chambering Round

I went shooting today with my russian 54 sks for the first time in over a year. The last time i had a round lock the action and did not eject. When i got home i field stripped the rifle cleaned and lubricated it then put back into the safe. Fast foward today i loaded wolf yellow box onto yugo stripper clips and then loaded the rifle. The bolt did not close on the action all the way, trigger is locked and when i cycled the action to clear i noticed that the bullet was pushed deep back into the case. The action closes shut on a empty chamber and the rifle can be dry fired. I am wondering if this is a chamber issue or a magazine issue, maybe something else?

Check for a broken case neck stuck in the chamber. I bought a Mosin Nagant that had that problem. I had to buy a broken case extractor the remove it. When you by one make sure you get the right one they are caliber specific.

You may be able to get the case out by pushing a .45 bronze brush threaded to a rod from the breech end into the case neck and pulling it back to the rear.

Broken case extractor came today, will attempt to remove it in a bit. The stuck case is from 7.62x39 brass cased geco ammunition. I never had an issue before shooting wolf and tula copper jacketed 7.62x39.

Try as i might i wasnt able to get the case out, the broken case extractor would not even fit into the case. Took it to the gunsmith and he also used a broken case extractor and had the same result. He ended up taking the gun in and told me a six week turnaround

I have used a broken bolt extractor that fits snug in the case mouth. Hammered it in, used a small steel rod inserted in the barrel from muzzle, and hammer the rod.

Old trick is to get a tapping die and tap the casing. Then with the tap inserted use a rod and slowing tap out the casing.

Man that sucks Op. I’ve never fed any of my SKS’s any brass. Guess I won’t. Hard to find a more dependable platform. My old SVT had case sticking issues.
