Help ID This US Boyt 44 pouch?

Pretty sure it's WW2 era. Not sure if the 44 has anything to do with year. Trying to figure out what kind of pouch this is. It has 3 larger sections and 2 or 3 smaller sections inside with the 2 flaps that close over before the main flap that covers it.

PTO and ETO.
