Hmm, Gary Fisher bikes ("Cake" model) or gluten free baking... both seem very Berkeley. But I do recall seeing some police leather around marked G. F. Cake.

The George F. Cake Co. was located in Berkeley Ca for many years. The supplied local PD's with equipment, including badges, holsters, batons, uniforms, etc.

In addition to being distributors for other companies, they made some of their own leather goods (holsters, belts, ammo carriers, etc). And they did some gunsmithing, although some very custom work was farmed out to guys like Davis, Clark, et al.

I remember dealing with them in the early/mid 70's and you could buy just about anything LEO/FD/Paramedic related from push bars to sirens to belt keepers on your duty belt. The most commonly found surviving "artifacts" are usually Police/FD badges with the company's name on the back.

Quality of their products was usually very good and they had a good reputation. I'm not sure when they went out of business, however.
