    x54r lever guns

So with my stockpile of 7.62x54r I know there was some I guess rare Winchester? I hope other brand because I am cheap. Was there other x54r levers that were made?

If I found one and did the basics looks at it..are they generally good rifles to blast steel plates with?

Wish Rossi or someone would make a modern/new x54r lever. Hell no with rails on it or even in stainless steel...puke.

    Appreciate any knowledge on them.

I don't believe anyone else made x54r lever action rifles

I found one in Reno a few years ago. It was one I had always hoped to find so I'm glad I bought it but it's definitely not one of my most accurate rifles. Most of the ones here in the states went to Spain for the Civil War so they will have an "MP8" flaming bomb stamp and a rack number added by Spain. They are interesting rifles but IMO the sights kind of suck compared to a Finn M39 or 28-30.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I recommend selling off the cache of x54 ammo instead of looking for a lever action to burn it off. Or get a Mosin to use it up.

The Russian contract Winchesters are not guns I would plan to shoot a lot.

Appreciate the info. I am happy to shoot up using the m39 and sniper 91/30, just wanted to add a bit more spice.

I'm pretty sure the S in SVT-40 stands for spicy.

I bet you could have one made by using a current production Winchester or Browning 95 in .30-40 Krag rebarreled to 7.62x54R but the bolt face would have to be opened up a bit for the larger rim diameter of the 54R case.

                    Bring lots of money!

That would be interesting. I have a sportorized krag from grandpa that I have never shot and just kept oiled in back of safe.

SVT has always been attractive but something about corrosive ammo and gas semi auto turns me off. I must be over cautious about it as they are obviously not all rust buckets, but I just throw a swan of 50/50 windex down barrel of bolt actions, wipe the bolt and rest of exposed areas then coat oil and back in safe. I despise cleaning rifles and to preserve a gas pistol semi sounds even worse.
