    Gift Ideas

I want to get my brother a gift rifle but I don't have a ton of $$$. He has all the usual cool stuff already, so was thinking something a little different may be nice. Maybe blackpowder or some type of old surplus military rifle... Maybe even a kit I would have to build for him would be cool...more personal. He has bought me some really nice guns in the past and I want to do something nice this time.

Anyone have some ideas on what they think would be a cool/different gift on a budget? Thanks.

Hey if you are reading this and you are my brother...go away! no fair peaking....

Well... what kind of rifles does he like? I don't think anything could beat an M1 Garand, an Enfield, or a good Mauser.

mosins are always a great, cost-effective piece, not to mention easy ammo availability. A+ you can pick up a 91/30 for under 100 bucks if you play your cards right, and they're great shooters. the carbines are a little less user-friendly and a bit more expensive, but still a great bang for the buck, quite literally. other things to consider are early/small ring mausers or turk/persian mausers, as they're relatively inexpensive and superb quality old rifles. only problem with them is that ammo is a bit more expensive. i dunno, look around, see if anything catches your eye that looks like a fit. just throwin' my 2 cents in. bought my dad a mosin and 880 rounds of ammo for 150 bucks last christmas. Crusader's right though, be good to know what kinda thing he likes. happy hunting.
