    Martini Henry

So is the martini Henry an antique that can be shipped to my house. It meets the definition of pre 1889 and fired a self contained cartridge that is not reality available from normal outlets ?

pre-1899 is the year and the only thing that matters. If made before the year, it is an antique. Cartridge is not relevant. The cartridge part is in the definition of NFA antiques, not for regular firearms.

Yes, as long as it's pre-1899 it can be shipped to your door.

That is correct. Fun rifles and a pain in the butt to reload/make shells for.

Does that apply to pre-1899 handguns as well?

You'll need case forming dies. If you just run the 24 ga cases through the FL resizing die there is a very good chance they will collapse.

It might be a better option to send your 24 ga cases to one of the guys on the Gunboards MH sub forum that does this service rather than invest in the case forming dies.

I thought the cartridge rule applied to handguns? I would like to be wrong.

sorry for the drift as well... but good luck reloading for the MH

Anneal the cases with a propane torch first. Otherwise they'll probably munch when you put them through the sizer die.
