Does this look like a rebarrel or rechambering?

Based on the photos I would guess a refinish was done in conjunction with rechambering.

Made 1907, and I can't see anything in the pics that indicated refinish or a re-chamber. What do you see that I'm missing?
BTW, his starting price isn't high for a half mag sporting rifle, especially in 38-55.

I'd be concerned about the brass pins, and the caliber stamp looks odd to me. I'd probably want a Cody letter on that one to see how it left the factory, before spending big on it.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

The stock pins can be made to disappear without too much effort.

Bluing looks awfully pristine for 114 yrs. One of those "if it looks too good to be true" things. While the stock shows it wasn't a safe queen.

The chambering stamp font looks too modern. I decided to pass.

It wasn't, it was a Winchester chamber stamp and factory proof stamp. I looked hard, and didn't see any signs of a re-blue. The muzzle crown was still in the white too, Winchester didn't blue the crown. The stocks have been rubbed out with Linseed oil, probably after the wrist repair.
I agree with BBM, I would want to see a letter, and the factory date stamp on the barrel bottom. Half Octagon/Half magazine in 38/55 is a desirable 94.
From the sellers condition description, sounds like it was broken a long time ago, and got set aside, and someone finally wanted to use it bad enough, they fixed the stock. Wouldn't ship to Calif anyhow.
