1911 Colt Gold Cup National Match 7 inch barrel

I won this today at auction.

    Anyone know anything about it?

Always wanted a longer barrelled 1911.

Will join my collection of 1911's

GunBroker collects California Sales Tax now - just found that out - for those of you who didn't know that.

            Congratulations.
            Is it a Clark Conversion?

I have no idea. Other than saying it was a 1969 National Match with a 7 inch barrel - with a weighted bushing.

Will try to take some pictures of it when I eventually get it. The FFL I am trying to use has not responded yet but he is part time.

I think it took near a month to get the last weapon I bought - last year.

Would think that if it was a noted custom shop, the seller would have mentioned it to increase the bidding activity.

That's a very interesting 1911. It looks like a very quality addition!

Does anyone know how a weighted bushing works with a 7 inch barrel?

The FFL was asking questions and I have no idea if the barrel is threaded or not.

I did not think so and the seller hasn't clarified that yet.

In your pic you can see the barrel sticking out from the slide. It's clearly not threaded.

Hard to say if that's really the barrel or a shroud/bushing. Auction pics don't make it clear either

It would have been a good question to ask the seller before bidding

Never saw a bushing that was threaded, so it never entered my mind.

Still waiting for the seller to comment on that.

Got to have the pistol in hand today - started the paperwork.

The slide - with the magazine in it - will not lock back - without manual manipulation of the slide stop/release.

Highlighted view of cut on slide

So was this slide altered so it would not automatically lock back on an empty magazine - ?

Compare it to this other Gold Cup that locks back on an empty magazine.
