    S&W Baby Russian, I think?

My uncle sent me some pictures of a few of his firearms that his father acquired in the 1950s. I think this one is a second variant baby Russian, but I'm not an expert in these (or anything else). The model to me looks like a backwards C F Q 1. Can anyone tell what that model says/supposed to say?

Not a Baby Russian. I'm no S&W expert, but I think that's a 3rd Model, and the "cfq1" is a badly stamped Model "OF 91". There was a contract to the Mexican government for about 2000 with a spur trigger, and without a trigger guard.
Post that on the S&W Forums, they can give you a load more info than I can.

If I'm correct on the ID, that S&W would bring $10K+ on the auctions. Tell uncle to take good care of it, and put you in his will.

It should have a serial number on it.

Call S&W Customer Service @ 1 800 331 0852. Give them the serial number. The serial number should be on the bottom of the top brake and on the back of the cylinder.

They should be able to provide the correct model info and the month / year it was shipped from the factory.

Good luck & keep us posted.

P.S.....remember they are on EST. Call them before 1pm our time.

          P.S.S...nice break top.

          P.S.S....I think it's a Model of 91.

Thanks Mr Beretta, he couldn't find the serial number, but I will tell him to look where you said and see if I can get it.

He also has a Colt Lightning rifle, in 40-60, serial number 4XX. I didn't get any pictures, but he said it is in good shape. They would make a fun pair for a turn of the century collection.
