Stupid question about filling out the C&R Form

Do I just need to fill out the first copy of the forms? Do I tear off a copy of the form also?

Fill 'em both out. 1st copy goes to ATF, 2nd copy goes to Chief Law Enforcement Officer.

read the instructions and it tells you to submit an original copy to ATF and "copy 2" of the form to your CLEO. No point in submitting a blank set of forms to the CLEO, so both copies need to be filed out.

I had some issues filling that form out as well.

The print is really small, I know but on the back, the description on how to fill the forms out is pretty detailed. If you have questions, read the back of the forms first. It might help a little...

The CLEO would be the Chief of Police in the city you live in, or the Sheriff, if you live in an unincorporated section of the county.

Check to see (for sure) what district you're in. I'm not saying you're wrong but it would suck if you fell under Alameda County Sheriff and sent it to the wrong CLEO...

It wouldn't really suck at all. The BATFE guy in West Virginia processing the application is even less likely to know who your CLEO is than you are. He's not going to look at the application and go "Hmm, East 75th Street. I think that's outside of Oakland PD's jurisdiction!"

I think the better way of thinking about this as mentioned in other threads is if you call 911 and asked for the police to show up, would OPD or Alameda County Sheriff show up at your door?

OPD shows up at my house.... question... why would the SD show up? If you live in Oakland, you have OPD, if you live in Alameda, it's APD. IDK but I guess I have the right address for the cheif unless someone tells me wrong
