    Verifying C&R License?

With a traditional FFL, you can go on to the BATFE's "EZ Check" site and verify an FFL. Is there something similar with a C&R?

Also, is a "wet" copy (hand signed in ink) of a C&R required for shipping or sales or is a photocopy adequate?

nope. You used to be able to verify C&Rs through EZ-check by just entering the ffl number and getting the contact info. It was felt to be a security risk that people could type in random numbers and get a C&R's home address. So, they removed C&R FFLs from the EZ-check system. I think they could have added an additional requirement that you enter the zip code off the paper FFL you trying to verify, which would have reduced the security concerns.

A CG'er did mention recently that he did call ATF and they were able to verbally confirm that the C&R FFL was valid.

AFAIK, you can't use a photocopy of a signed FFL, the sig must be wet. But, you can fax or email a copy of signed FFL and that is ok, even though the sig isn't wet on those copies

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

OK, I wondered why EZ check would not work with a C&R number. THANKS for the info.

Here is the thread where EOD Guy posted the number you can call to verify C&R FFL's...

It is VERY easy to Photoshop a copy of an FFL to change the address, so I always call BATFE to make sure the C&R license is good before shipping a firearm.
