Colt 1911 1948 Date of manufacture

Hard to find actual values on this. They seem to be all over the place. Have the original box and instructions that came with it. Box does have a small piece missing from the lip of the lid. My Dad did shoot it it competition so it may have some work done on that may impact the value.

Any idea from our Colt aficionados what the value may be?

It would be worth more if someone hadn’t installed the rib sights on it. In excellent stock condition with the box and docs I imagine it would easily sell in the $2500-$3000 range. Assuming that there are holes drilled into the slide I personally wouldn’t pay more than a grand for it as a shooter.

Additional pictures as requested by member for "Bullseye Competition" work that was done.

Nice (shooter) pistol, but the collector value was ruined by the modifications. $1200? or so. I'm not an expert.

I have no idea about the value but It sure is pretty cool that you have your Father's pistol.

I like it.....something feels right to me about the work done. I bet it would be pretty nice to shoot. Maybe some nice bullseye rounds?
