What is the normal price (pre-covid) of .30 carbine ammo?

What were people paying for .30 carbine ammo before coronavirus? And what is the general outlook on ammo if I purchased an M1 Carbine in the future? Thanks for any info on this!

Pre-COVID, I want to say $0.30-ish per round. Ammoseek.com is currently showing $0.59 to $0.89 per round for military surplus ball ammo. Good luck finding any in stock...

I purchased a 1080rd can of surplus South Korean 30 carbine from SG ammo pre kung flu (late 2019) for around $400.

I was paying .29/rd for PPU landed on my doorstep back when we could get it tax free from Cabelas, pre-Covid obviously

I paid .55/rd for Korean Surplus from JG Sales just last month, that was the net price to my doorstep. They have raised the price considerably but still in stock:

UPDATE: ^^^ that is all gone now

SG Ammo has it in stock .59/rd before tax and ship, but they do not ship to CA

        Here is some @ .70/rd

Here is steel case @ .80/rd

So, you can get it but not as cheap as before. But the price has not gone up crazy like 5.56 or 7.62 NATO, .30-30 or .30-06 etc. 30 carbine ammo has not run away price-wise yet.

.40/ was easy to find in the good times.
.30 per was a very good deal.

It's the one I wish I had stocked uo more on, even though I haven't shot any of my carbines.

Jan/Feb '20 I bought a case of Korean ammo from SG ~ .36 cpr shipped. Tula was ~ .26 cpr for a case I was debating on which one and ponied up for the KRN stuff.

Looking back I should have bought both!

I used to be concerned about ammo availability myself until I looked-up the primary source for surplus nowadays: South Korea. South Korea still maintains over 1,000,000 M1 carbines for use by their reserve forces, which means they must keep & rotate several billion rounds of .30 carbine ammo. "Expired" ammo becomes milsurp and will keep showing-up to our shores pretty-much until South Korea decomissions all of them. (or at least until some Dem outlaws milsurp ammo)

.30 Carbine ammo should still be available and won't be low in quantity in the near future. I don't think that it will be going away anytime soon.

I paid about ~.30-40 cpr pre-covid. (The last time having bought ammo was in Mid March 2020 with the Korean Surplus in the bandolier and ammo can) for 440 shipped

Mostly saving brass and reloading what I have for now and shooting other guns so I don't go too overboard with my .30 Carbine stash lol
