I was just out cleaning my M44 and was putting the bolt back when I noticed that: when the bolt is all the way back, the trigger won't move; but when I push it forward again there is about 1/2" of play that the trigger can move forward. I can't remember if it's always been this way or something new. Some additional info last year I had to take it apart and tighten up the trigger leaf spring screw but I have shot it since then so I don't that had anything to do with it.

Play in Mosin M44 trigger
Tags: None -
I just took apart my Hungarian m44, and I could not find any part that could be adjusted, the pin holding my trigger was VERY loose, and still is, the bolt with the leaf spring was tight, and my trigger is still the same, loose like yours about 1/2 max id say, its only tight after its been fired, IE the firing pin is forward.. other wise its 60 years of wear on the trigger that makes them this way..t

Cool, thanks. I guess I'm always just paranoid about that old rifle blowing to pieces.I just took apart my Hungarian m44, and I could not find any part that could be adjusted, the pin holding my trigger was VERY loose, and still is, the bolt with the leaf spring was tight, and my trigger is still the same, loose like yours about 1/2 max id say, its only tight after its been fired, IE the firing pin is forward.. other wise its 60 years of wear on the trigger that makes them this way..Comment

ya my dad is the same way with the 91/30 I gave him, Ill tell you the same thing I told him, these guns were made to kill and to last through hell on earth, and they have, As long as they are pretty much matching, and the bolt head matches the receiver, there is not much to worry about, if it was some bubba mis matched gun, then maybe.
Im going to be shooting about 50 rounds through her this weekend for the first time since ive owed it, should be interesting...t

Mine has all numbers matching and is in pretty good shape so I shouldn't have anything to worry about but I do anyway.ya my dad is the same way with the 91/30 I gave him, Ill tell you the same thing I told him, these guns were made to kill and to last through hell on earth, and they have, As long as they are pretty much matching, and the bolt head matches the receiver, there is not much to worry about, if it was some bubba mis matched gun, then maybe.

Mosins have play in their triggers. They were designed with very loose tolerances to be able to keep working in mud, blood and frozen hell. The Mosin is one of the safest bolt action rifles designed. As long as your spent cases look ok, I wouldn't fear it ever failing catastrophically.sigpic "On bended knee is no way to be free." - Eddie Vedder, "Guaranteed"

As far as casings go, every once in a while when I eject a spent case a little metal circle will come out with it. Never figured out what it was and it doesn't happen all the time so haven't worried much about it.Mosins have play in their triggers. My M44 trigger has more than 1 inch of play when cocked. M39 has zero movement.Comment

Does it look like a primer?
Your firing pin may be protruding too far. That could explain the trigger disconnectingOriginally posted by AJAX22Anti gun BS...

I would definitely worry about that. Blowing primers is a good way to get gas/debris back in your face. Use the firing pin protrusion tool and get it set right.sigpic "On bended knee is no way to be free." - Eddie Vedder, "Guaranteed"
